MG MGB GT
MG B GT. LE (limited edition) Model
Built in 1980 it was the 19th one built out of a production run of 580 GT’s, a total of 1000 LE models were built, the remaining 420 were tourers. All GT’s were finished in pewter and the tourers in bronze. These were the very last MG’s to be built at the famous Abingdon Works.
BYJ 810Y was first registered on February 22nd 1983 hence the ‘Y’. Clearly sales were very slow at the time, the selling price was about £7,000, so they were not cheap. The ‘LE’ had larger alloy wheels, front spoiler etc.
The first owner was the Grant family of Horselung Manor W.Sussex, Peter Grant was the manager of the Led Zepplin group, during this time it was registered as LZ 1. The MOT’s go back to April 89, confirming the current mileage to be approximately 46,500. It was ziebarted (rust protected) from new ensuring even now it is vey free from the dreaded rust.
Extensive work has been done on the front and rear suspension. Removal, sandblasting and coating renewing all worn parts including brake and clutch replacement etc. The interior has been improved with re-upholstered seats.
It has been completely resprayed by Elite Panel Craft in Wilton, who refurbished the wheels etc. It represents a very good example of this rare model of the popular MG B GT.
